Gray

Josie Gray is a single mother of three beautiful children and Mimi to 3 gorgeous grandchildren. She’s a self-employed, insurance agency owner and broker in the state of South Carolina and holds licenses in 18 states.
According to family, Josie has been singing since the age of 2 years old and telling others when they were on the wrong note. Her singing began with her family group, the Gray Family, in her pre-teen years. During this time, her elder sister, Delphine, recognized Josie had a gift to pick up an instrument and play it with no training. She began taking Josie with her to piano lessons.

In 1982, Josie’s uncle JW bought her a winded organ she begged for as a Christmas gift. Josie began to play the piano for the church she attended in 1983 after her grandmother encouraged her to “Get on the piano and play!”. So her journey as a musician began. A few short years later, her god-father, the late Bishop EW Mayer, began to push her to play and sing, night and day, as he entrusted her to travel with him, and his evangelistic team, as his musician and organist. He was present at times when Josie was writing his favorite song, “Chosen”, and a few other songs she has not yet recorded, and assisted with words she couldn’t think of at that time.
In high school, the band teacher, Joel Sligh, and chorus teacher, Mrs. Lauderdale, both recognized Josie had “an ear” for music as well. This gift was cultivated by a few musicians and music teachers over the years and has played a part in Josie becoming the singer, musician, songwriter and composer she is today.
Over the years, Josie served as Director of Music, and other positions, in the music departments of various ministries. In those positions, she began writing and singing songs “off the cuff” and was encouraged by many to “get in the studio”.
Now, a new journey begins . . .
